About the Class

Mum and Baby Yoga

A mum practising postnatal yoga on a mat, smiling down at her baby lying on a cushion beside her

Our mum and baby yoga course runs over 6 weeks, with hour-long classes. Groups are kept small, so the room stays calm and relaxed for mums and babies alike.

Each session focuses on reconnecting with your core, rebuilding overall strength, and improving flexibility, all at a pace that respects what your body has been through.

The sequences change with every course, so you're welcome to come back as many times as you like without repeating the same six weeks. If you've been before progressions will be given so you can continue to develop your practice.

Babies are always welcome on the mat beside you. Equally, plenty of mums prefer to come without their baby for an uninterrupted hour to themselves. Both are completely fine, and there's no expectation either way. Mats are provided for both mums and babies, you are also welcome to bring car seats into the room.

Classes are suitable for every level, including complete beginners, and are held at The Physiotherapy Centre on Mather Avenue, Mossley Hill. If life gets in the way and you miss a week, it's not a problem. You can simply pick the course back up whenever you're ready. Unfortunately refunds or exchanges cannot be given for missed classes.

Jacqueline

Postnatal Yoga Teacher & Founder

Jacqueline is a 500-hour qualified yoga teacher and has been teaching since 2021. She completed her 200-hour training in the UK and has taught in studios, universities and community spaces.

In 2023 she travelled to Rishikesh, India, for a further 300 hours of advanced training, and has since completed a postnatal yoga teacher training course. She is DBS checked and trained in paediatric first aid.

She is also a qualified mental health nurse, and a mum herself, so she understands both sides of the postnatal period: what it asks of your body, and what it asks of your mind. She brings that training and experience together to create a supportive, nurturing and safe space for new mums.

"I know how much changes after having a baby, and how daunting it can feel to start moving again. This is a space to go at your own pace, with no pressure and no judgement."

FAQs

Questions new mums often ask

Can I bring my baby, and how old do they need to be?

Absolutely. Babies are welcome from around 6 weeks old through to pre-walking. Mums should be at least 6 weeks postnatal and cleared by their doctor to return to exercise before attending.

Do I need previous yoga experience?

Classes are suitable for all levels, including complete beginners. You don't need any previous yoga experience to join us.

What should I bring?

Wear loose, comfortable clothes that you can move and do yoga in, bring a water bottle, and bring your usual baby essentials if your baby is joining you.

What if my baby needs feeding, changing or settling during the class?

We're a supportive, baby-friendly environment. You're welcome to feed, cuddle, change or settle your baby at any time. There's no pressure to keep up with the class while you're looking after them, just rejoin when you're ready.

Where are you located?

Our courses are currently located at The Physiotherapy Centre, 106 Mather Avenue, Liverpool, L18 7HB, in Mossley Hill. There is a small free car park and free street parking.

Can I bring my pram or carrier/car seat?

There is a small area in reception that can fit a few prams however prams cannot be taken upstairs, so please bring a car seat or carrier if possible.

How long is each class?

Each class is 1 hour long.

Is the Christmas Special the same as the regular class?

No, it's a one-off festive session rather than part of the course, and it runs to a different timetable. It starts at 11:00 rather than 10:45 and lasts 90 minutes instead of an hour. Alongside the usual yoga for mum there's a short yoga session for baby, a baby safe sound bath and a festive sweet treat. You don't need to have done the course to come along.

How many sessions are included?

The mum and baby yoga course runs for six sessions.

What happens if I miss a class?

We intentionally keep our classes small to create a relaxed and supportive environment. As spaces on each course are limited, we're unfortunately unable to offer refunds for individual classes that you miss. If you do miss any classes, you can simply continue with the course when you're able to.
